Whether you are a novice or a professional, Delilah’s fan dancing class will benefit you! Beginners will gain confidence and poise, performers will have the opportunity to refine their stage craft. Even if you are not interested in performing, fan dancing provides and incredible and fun workout for your upper arms (and all over)!

In this class we will focus on hiding, revealing, tantalizing and teasing the audience. In addition to learning the fundamentals of working with fans, we will also touch on staging, movement, gesture and expression, bringing it all together to encompass all you need to create a glamorous and confident stage presence. Learn to use your face and your body to create different moods, from vampy to campy! Learn how to work the stage to incredible effect!

You are welcome to bring your own fans, or anything else that can be used as a substitute. I will provide a small number of smaller fas to rehearse with and you are welcome to try my big ones out during the class. Bring high heel shoes comfortable to dance in (or ballet slippers) and comfortable clothes that are easy to move in.

Set the stage on fire! Go from talented to TNT! Build a larger-than-life Burlesque Persona with Tigger! And take your shows and your stage identity to the next level – with Personality Plus. Tigger! Is a recognized pioneer of the current burlesque scene but has been an actor all his life, “acting like a burlesque stripper” for 17 years. Using his degree in theatre, his experience teaching acting, and over 30 years on the stage, he employs his theatrical training and approach to break down what makes a burlesque performers stand out from the herd. Whatever you do in front of any kind of an audience, you are an actor. Learn techniques and tips to make the most of what you’ve got. Bring anything from ideas to works-in-progress to signature numbers to workshop in class.

With Queen of Carnaval SF 2008, Kellita! In this class we break down the increments the lead to full showgirl samba. We practice signature movements of "Best of the Bay" dance troupe Hot Pink Feathers, including both graceful showgirl lines and articulations of hip, chest and shoulder to fully express your sassy self.

Tassles & Spinners DIY  ~  Lady Monster  ~ $25

I have been sanctioned by Satan’s Angel to teach her techniques, and she taught me how she makes her tassels with fringed tassels and spinners. I will be teaching you how to make replicas of her handiwork. They work like a charm for me and put less stress on breast tissue than plain fringe tassels. Plus, you can change out your tassels for when you perform more than one routine a night. I will bring all necessary materials, unless you want to work on a specific look for your routine then bring your own. You walk away with new pasties and two sets of tassels.

I began dancing burlesque with Heather MacAllister’s Fat-Bottom Revue, and before you knew it, we were modeling for Leonard Nimoy and his book, The Full Body Project. Since then I have become his spokesmodel for the book, appearing on EXTRA TV and The Insider with Mr. Nimoy, and speaking/performing at his Full Body Symposium. Red Hot Annie will discuss the basics of using the internet to market yourself and your burlesque troupe. This class is ideal for performers and producers who want to maximize their exposure while minimizing the amount of legwork/papering required when using posters/postcards. Annie also makes suggestions regarding Websites/SEO and building a team. Students are encouraged to bring a notebook and pen to take notes during this lecture.

Burlesque Hair & Makeup  ~  Red Hot Annie  ~  $20

Red Hot Annie will demonstrate a makeup application and then coach you through applying a pinup/burlesque look for camera and stage. It’s ideal for performers and models who would like a fresh approach, as well as “civilians” who love that glamorous 40’s look. Annie also makes suggestions regarding the kind of products & colours you should add to your kit. You will apply your own makeup, with tips and suggestions as required. Students must bring their own makeup kit.

Looking to build your portfolio or need new promo material? With this workshop you will receive lessons on make-up for photoshoots by professional make-up artist Nicole Buckley, prop use, facial expressions and posing, along with a photoshoot with photographer Shimona Henry. Ever since Little Egypt stunned the world with her provocative shimmy at the Chicago Fair in 1893, burlesque & dance performers alike have held her as an icon & inspiration everywhere. Fusing classic Bump & Grind to Belly Dance, you will learn various oriental and classic dance moves, which will then be put into a short strip-tease choreography with plenty of hip action and shimmies! Bring your coin belt if you have one, and don't forget your high heels, long gloves, and thigh-high stockings!

She will present information on the history of burlesque, followed by a how to on the basic moves and creative process that goes into making a burlesque persona. Students will hear anecdotes collected by Katherine Lashe from actual Burlesque American Icons such as Tura Satana, Satan’s Angel, Dusty Summers and more! They’ll also answer the age-old questions of names, fringe, and pasties!

Did you ever wonder how to sew on to panties or gloves and keep them stretchy? How to sew on an appliqué to spruce up a store bought piece? How to deal with sequins, rhinestones, sew through feathers, fringe, and other trims? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this class is for you! Bring any costume pieces you’d like to work on or ask questions about or just come and take notes about the example pieces being shown.

Learn how to bring out your inner bombshell with this “How to Be a Pin-up” workshop taught by professional hairstylist and make-up artist Nicole Buckley and photographer Shimona Henry! You will receive lessons on hair and make-up styling, prop use and posing, along with starring in your very own pin-up photoshoot with Shimona Henry. You will also take home a disk with high resolution images from the shoot! *Must bring own make-up and wardrobe*
